Whay is it so easy to pray for someone else, and hard to pray for myself. It seems so selfish, it is very hard for me to do it. Sorry for all the rambleing, just very difficult with all that's going on in the world today to pray for myself. I just read the post about the ifisher(Silverslinger) that found out his son was found in a park, so confusing....seems so shallow to pray for the strength to carry on with my little life after reading about someone losing a child......

Pray for your self as well as others. The Lord invites it, desires it. and doesn't view it as selfishness at all

Easy to say,but difficult to do....must be something about me and my relationship with the lord. I guess I should really work on it...Thanks for the quick reply...

troutski, I'm much like you, I find it hard to pray for myself most of the time, feeling that my problems are nothing compared to many of the troubles in the world. I pray often, giving thanks for the blessings in my life, but do struggle to take my "problems" before the Gods.

Nice to hear I am not alone, very difficult to ask for help when the others are in such need. I feel so blessed.

I too find myself praying for others more, but so seem to be their needs! I think we all need to pray increasingly regarding ourselves because it is a big part on how we view ourselves and God.
Prayer is our communication with Him. We tell Him how we think of Him and thank Him for His goodness. We also do some self evaluation and realize our needs and ask for His help.
Thanks for your honesty, because it as caused me to commit to more time praying for personal needs-spiritual, physical, and otherwise.

We are called to pray for ourselfs and others. When you were a child did you not ask your parents for things? Your heavenly Father wants you to ask also, and if it is in acordence to his will He will pour out blessing on you and your cup will be packed down and overflowing. God cares about all our needs and wants.

I understand what your saying, but I still feel rather selfish asking for more......I am so blessed as it is. Great family, good friends, and rather good health. Not to mention the IFISH family. When you hear of such sorrow and conflict it aches the heart.

my faith teaches us that we need to do all we can to take care of our problems, then we can go to the Gods for help, not because we think that the Gods dont care, but because we have the ability already within us to handle most problems that come up in our lives. many times that I do take my problems to the Gods, I tend to ask for the courage to see a problem through,as opposed to asking for the problem to be handled for me. alot of it also comes back to the fact that I think that my "problems" are miniscule compared to the suffering that we see everyday, much easier for me to go to the Gods with thanks on my tongue.
