Having just returned from my first trip to salt, I thought I would get opinions on flushing my Hondas (225 & kicker). I've already ran them in fresh water, but I want to, in the future, be able to flush them at home or at a campsite with hookups. When I saw the flush fitting on the 225, I thought it would hook right up to a garden hose, but I know now I have to have a Honda adapter. I saw on another website where a guy made an inline flush adapter for his Hondas. Kind of like a Prestone flush adapter for a car. Anyone here do that?

my mechanic told me not to start it with water only going to the flush port, so, i dont, i use the muffs on both engines, he said the flush port was good for giving the engine a flush when its moored.

On the 225 you just unscrew the hose-like connecter and attach to your garden hose. Turn it on for 10 minutes and that's it. I just back my two motors (225 & 15) to a lake and let them run for 10-12 minutes. That seems to do the trick...

Hook it to the garden hose and go. My mechanic here in AK said run it with the flush port. No problem, the attorneys write the manual. He is the distributor so he gets to fix it if he is wrong. I sure hope hes right. Either way you have to run it to get past the thermostat. The manual says you dont even have to run it.
