My son and his buddy went to HaggLake Sunday morning. They were going to fish for Bass but they only got some dinks. But they got two sixteen inch Rainbows and a twelve inch rainbow.
Not bad for a morning of cruising around in a pontoon boat.

Isn't Hagg pretty drawn down this time of year?

I have a question!!! Is the real name Hagg lake or is Hagg short for the real name, and were is it located. I have seen alot of stuff about it and don't know nothing about it, so i thought that is was time to ask. Thanks
I beleive Hagg lake is Henry Hagg lake. It's a few miles south of Forest Grove on the highway to McMinville. Not sure what the Hwy # is.
I went out their for the first time last year for some perch perching. I was their in mid-late Spetember and the lake was down. We caught tons of small perch (fun with a then 5 year old), 1-2 smaller largemouth, and several decent smallie.

It's south of Forest Grove via Hwy47. There's a small sign at the turn-off to the west.
Yes, the lake does get drawn down but this is the best time to catch some larger trout- holdovers from earlier stockings. You do need to fish deeper for them though- usually 30-40ft on the downrigger works well. From the bank, fishing on the bottom should work also.

Does it have a boat ramp, and could a person launch a small boat ?
At least two improved ramps. If I remember right, you could proably throw a small boat in down by the dam.

Hagg is a good lake. When I was fishing for bass in a cove I saw a really big trout, about the size of a small stealhead, I couldn't get it to bite because I had a bass lure on. Over all Hagg is a really good lake.
