Just purchased my LCX-17M - Directions say to run power/ground wires directly off the battery otherwise there is likelihood of interference. I can do that but it would be much easier to use power/ground at the console. Has anyone installed power/ground just to console?? Any interference problems??

If nothing else is hooked to the power source at the consul it would be ok. Chances are that is the power source for other accessories and when they are on it may cause interference. We always go direct to battery.

I'm sure Boat Doc has more experience than me, so take this with a grain of salt, but I have wired them to the console on 4 different applications without a problem. I currently have 2 Lowrance FF's on my boat (a 337 and a 136); the 337 came with the boat and is wired to the battery; I installed the 136 and wired it to the fuse buss; both work fine.

There are a couple of other variables to consider. If your fuse buss is shut down when the boat isn't in use (ie. Perko switch on the batteries), there is no chance of leaving on the FF and draining your battery (been there, done that). However, if you have any Lowrance network accessories (GPS, Fuel Flow Meter), I think they are supposed to have power to the network at all times - which means wiring at least the network power wires to the battery if you have a Perko switch. Oh, but the manual says not to have power to them all the time if in a saltwater environment, so who knows?
