"Freely Bless vs Withholding Blessing"
"Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead; for you were called for this very purpose that you might inherit a blessing." 1Peter 3:9
Unseen poisonous gases, when undetected, have been known to cause sickness and even death. This is the atmosphere of a place (home, church, work, boat)or relationship (spouse, children, friends)where blessing is withheld. On the other hand, equally invisable gases from sources like perfume, candles, fresh bread or coffee create an environment that is pleasant, sweet, welcoming and inviting. So it is with the atmosphere of blessing. Like a pleasant aroma to our nostrils, the fragrance of Christ in us blesses others. A word spoken, an encouraging arm around a shoulder, a phone call or note speaks God's blessing into deperate lives. On the other hand, are we sarcastic, cold, silent, intimidating, or just quite. Are we only kind and gracious to those who I feel 'deserve' it? Do I retaliate when hurt or offended? Do I give others the 'cold shoulder' or 'silent treatment' when I am angry?
The world needs to see Jesus from the lives of His children. We need to minister to others from our hearts (affirmation), not just from our heads (information)! Romans 12:14&15 "Bless those who persecute you;bless and do not curse. Gal.6:10 "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, espically to those who belong to the family of believers." Commit today to 'show-off' Christ, don't allow the enemy victory any longer! God bless
