I dragged the family to Alaska two years ago for a vacation and the fishing was great! I lost count of the number of Salmon (Chinook and Sockeye) I caught and we brought back a small cooler of filets. (I released most of them). Come to think of it, my catch rate here went way down after that trip. Maybe I got spoiled. I still have not recovered.

One thing. I did make a point of distancing myself from the crowds. They were "lining" the Sockeye and told me they would not really take a fly. How wrong they were! I went up river where I could fish undisturbed and they readily took a fly once they were not being pounded by hundreds of lead weighted snag rigs.

Have a great time!

Frank

That was a big problem there this year....seen a few pages of people caught so far...along with other violations...

Have several friends that live there and they done well with a fly....just have to get away from the combat zones!!

At that time depends on where you fish. King most likely. Why are you float planing from there?

Me and my brother and dad will be escaping the wifes and children during a extended stay in juno on a cruise ship we have booked a float plane fishing trip to fly fish catch and release for what evers running at the time(guides discretion). Beyond that I really havent a clue what we might be fishing for. All the equipment will be provided.
