If you guys want to hammer some big fish on flies, try the lower sprague river in southern oregon, the lower williamson river in southern oregon and of course crane prarie. I have used muddler minnow deer hair flies successfully in the williamson and the sprague. Also a good place to hammer fish with flies is above gull point on the wickiup near sheep creek.

I am going to Wikiup next week. Do you have any pattern suggestions in particular. I also would be curious about the leader you would suggest. Thanks in advance.....

Look to see if the carpenter ants have began to hatch. That is a good first start. Then you can use black wooly buggers to catch fish. Also once you catch your first fish or two, trout or browns, look in their stomachs to see what they have been eating. Stonefly patterns or salmon fly patterns seem to work well, especially for the bigger fish. I would recommend tapered 6 pound leader during the early morning or late evening when the sun isn't so bright or 4 pound tapered leader during the bright of the day.
