Billy,
The bios concerns about the polution in the Strait reflect what I read a long time ago in my Beautiful British Columbia magazine articles. Many scientist's have long been concerned about the immense amounts of polution being put into the Strait of Goergia from the millions of people and industry of the Vancouver BC metro area plus that from the population explosion on the east side of Vanc. Island. Since it's the biggest difference between there and the west side streams it's got to be a major factor for poor survival of migrating smolts on there way out. When they close off the inside rivers that will put an unfortunate greater pressure on great rivers like the Gold and Stamp. Since we have a similar "mystery" hurting Oregon's big Willamette River tributary's return of steelhead, and anadromous fish in Puget Sound, I am going to put up a separate thread (post topic) to discuss these effects on fish. Thanks for the interesting article on the wild steelhead crisis in S.W. BC. - RT
