Try and get a fishing & hunting news magazine. It will have alot of basic info on the area rivers and how to fish them and gain access to them . Good Luck

The Necanicum river sucks, The steelhead are all really small and for some reason the strain that is in there does not fight worth a crud.

Small fish???? They dont fight?????? Fishing sucks????? You guys dont have alot of boat time on that river do you??? I have taken alot of fish off there in the teens and a handful in the 20lb range. When you hammer them with a plug I can guarantee that they fight!!!!!! So I am baffled at how you come up with those comments......I guess that I have been really lucky or *something*-John

I think I got my grammar right for those that think it is important.
Hey chnookie I have been fishing the North fork oh 10 plus years and this is what I fond to work. Use as light of line as you can I use 6 LB main and 6 to 4 for leader. As for bait I use a peace of pink yarn and sand shrimp the smallest you can buy (sand shrimp that is). For weight if your weight touches bottom once you’re in good shape twice your ok three times lose some weight if your line stop set the hook. As for a place to start go to the hatchery and follow the people there is not a shortage of them.
And if you don’t mind the woods and walking you will find some really good spots to fish.
And for those that think they have got a secret spot its not a secret spot on those two rivers some else knows that spot.

Does anyone have any advice on this river? I've always wanted to fish it, but never made it. Seems like the stats say it can be pretty good. Is there any bank access? etc.

Thanks Alwyze and you other guys. You can clam back up now!! Of course, there are no real secrets, but doesn't hurt to try. Thanks again.

I'm with you C&D. The Niki Nic sucks, big time!
Lousy fish, no bank access, no shuttle and a nasty walk back to the launch, gates across the boat ramps, and no place to buy fresh sand shrimp. Just isn't worth it. I spend my time on the NF Nehalem!
I bet NASA isn't pestering the Magician much!
