Not that it's a big deal, but how about double checking your spelling for corrections before you click on the Submit Message, or Submit Reply, icons. Makes for easier reading. If you discover any mistakes after you've already posted, or think of something you want to add before replies follow, you can just click on the edit icon (pad and pencil) above your post and it brings up your original typed message so you can add, subtract, correct, or change things, then click on Submit again. Another trick you can do when editing more than once is too delete the "This has been edited by ....." at the bottom of your post if you edit more than once. That way you could edit your post several times and it looks like you only edited once (especially nice to know when it takes several attempts to post a pic). I really like this trick! For example, it took me 8 tries to get this little post right but it appears to you that I only needed to edit it once http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif . Thanks guys. - RT

As long as we're on the subject of spelling, perhaps we can take a minute or two just to revisit the difference between they're, their, and there. Also your and you're.
Oh heck, how about just getting a spell check link up and running.
I'm not anal about this, really! My wife just reads over my shoulder and I need to find ways to quiet her down.

If we are going to start spell checks on this B.B. we will be here (hear?)forever. I enjoy some of the spelling errors (airs?), they make me laugh. I think writer (righter?) intent must be counted (didn't we learn from Florida?). If we do require spell checking, I'm sure going to miss Hey_Yall. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I going to miss Dummy! I sure wish he would change his moniker because I like the guy and he is no dummy. He just needs to ask for spell check for Xmas.

Just laughed myself sick on a shooting BB where a hunter wrote an entire page inquiry on how to hunt "COWS" when he was actually talking about "CROWS".(no he wasn't talking about cow elk) He wanted to know if there was any limit on them. If anyone had ever actually tried to eat them and if it was open season all year long on "COWS". Said he'd killed over 20 of them, in one day, with a pellet gun,. The replies were great. The first response was by a farmer.. "DON'T HUNT MY COWS!" Type-O's can be fun!!!

Obliviously you understood what he was talking about when he wrote cows instead of crows. Try not to be so hard on the little mistakes that people make. My mom always told me never sweat the small s%*t. I have tried to tell myself that everyday of my life, so that the little things don't get to me. Your idiosyncrasy toward those people with less grammar knowledge than yourself is extremly foolish and uncalled for.

And by the way, I edited this myself and with only one try!!!

If there are any mistakes found in this posting, GET A LIFE.

I thought this b.b. was for fishing stories!?!

Woah, talk about overreacting, I think right now you're sweating small stuff. RT wasn't making demands, just trying to suggest something. It appears we're having an influx of new members, some of which are new to the sport. Correcting a few of our typo's could save them some confusion. I'm just as likely to commit a typo as the next person, and if I'm proof reading a post and find a mistake, I edit it. That's not a lot to ask, I think, and I would hope fellow board members would do the same. Because not everyone could "get it".

I've got a bit of a journalistic background, so I end up sweating the small stuff in postings more than I should. It's a problem more on my side than anything.

Maybe that's who that guy "homoboy" was last night when I was in chat. Maybe it was some sort of ploy by RT to remind us to be careful of our homophones.

Okay okay, I see the jokes coming. "Homophones are like regular phones with the wiring backwards", or "Homophones are like regular phones, only with a better sense of style", etc.

Good grief, if spelling errors and homophones are an issue then we'll NEVER see Hey_yall around. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

A thoroughly enjoyable duo of posts, Tanner. However, I refuse to laugh at it...tryin' to work my way through this sick little idiot-syncrisy called humor. Don't wanna agitate Alwifes Fishin

I don't think that RT was targeting the occasional typo. Those can be funny and nobody is perfect. My guess is that he was targeting the posts that are difficult to read because the poster didn't use any Capitals or USES ALL CAPITALS or uses no punctuation or makes no effort to spell anything correctly. A guy can get a headache trying to figure out what the poster is trying to say.

Geez, first I have to suggest to you guys to spell correctly. Now I have to remind you to READ before you post. The first 5 words of my original post on this topic are "Not that it's a big deal" ... I didn't make a big deal here. Why are some of you. I just had some suggestions e-mailed to me to try to get members to pay attention to their spelling and puncuation is little more for other's reading ease. As far as I'm personally concerned go ahead and spell as you want to, as long as it's reasonably discernable. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif - RT

Now we made R.T. mad, and he goes and uses a big word like "discernable", like we could tell if it is spelled right. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All I can add is that I feel sorry for anyone that can only think of one way to spell a word. Now me, I can usually come up with many differeant ways to spell the same word. All I hope for is to get it close enough so that my spell checker will recognize it. Spelling is like fishing corkies, all sorts of different ways work.
