Dirty Water for chinook = black wings

Clear Water for chinook = mylar wings

Steelhead all conditions = white wings

I like mylar wings on chrome bodies in sunny weather, white wings on others, especially on flame, lemon/lime and clown.
I have had good success on black wings in Alaska but havn't used them much here in Oregon.

I also use a lot of birdies.

For the most part they are not as important as long as you have good bait but they do add confidence to the angler.

I prefer the white wings. They have worked well for Chinook and Steelhead.

Here on the Fraser we mostly use mylar wings unless the visibility is really poor. Then we either go home or put on black wings.
The most productive colors are red cap chrome and green cap chrome with the mylar wings.

Vic,

You are too modest. Vic is one of the reasons I had so much success in chinook fishing this year. He gave me sound advice which I followed to the letter until I knew enough to modify it slightly. I appreciate all he has done for me and he is a wonderfull addition to this board. I look forward to learning new tips from him.

Now you guys don't have to come so far for some good fishing.

I agree with Vic and CP 100%. Through our experimenting on the Skeena CP and I came to the above conclusions and with Vic's guidence we really enjoyed ourselves, Thanks Vic. Wings depend on the visibility, colour, clarity and brightness of day. I tend to fish mylar wings early in the season, low and clear and black later on when things get a little higher and dirtier. White fits somewhere in between.

Hey, I agree with our B.C. fishin' brothers on this one. It's nice to see that some guys up there actually know how to fish http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif . jk (just kidding). There are lots of good fishers up North. Us guys down here do have to try harder though, and thus might experiment a little more due to less fish than you have up there. ... Great having you on the BB with us! - RT

Thanks for the kind words Jay, my head is swelling now. I was getting a little tired of the other board with all the childish crap. Hard to get a serious discussion going when all you get is mumble jumble. I hope to hell they stay over there and not ruin this board.
Why am I a fry when everyone else is a Chromer?

That's because only real men are chromers http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif If those other guys come over here and try to steal mine and Osprey's limelight, then there's gonna be a rumble. Plus, Jennie or RT will just ban them http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif You will be a chromer when deemed "worthy" http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
