I recently acquired a huge amount of fly tackle. This includes two thompson vices with all the accessories, 100's of flys, scissors, clamps, feathers, elk hair, dear hair, etc., etc., etc. I have been put in charge of trying to get a fair price for it all....soooooo I need some help! If you think you can help me find out what this stuff is worth or would be interested yourself please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Canyon Man

P.S. Just saw that the thompson vice alone without accessories goes for around $200!

Twenty bucks, and you can keep the change!

is all of the stuff old or new or used etc.?

all the stuff looks unused...was probably purchased 1995-2000. I just got done counting and it looks like there are a little over 280 flies, 2 thompson vices with countless accessories, a skykomish deluxe fly tying kit still in box with manual, vice, and video, and a couple dozen unopened packages of deer hair, elk hair, antelope hair, calftail, peacock feathers, rabbit fur, marabou, etc., etc.

Thanks again for the help!

You could just put it up on E-Bay, and see what you can get.

Well I want to thank you all for your help. I have had many opinions as to what this stuff is worth ranging from 350-500+ dollars. If I have to break it up to sell I will, but it's much easier to do one transaction. So, to the first person to reply by either this thread or pm I will send everything pictured for $400. If interested respond asap.

If you haven't already you probably want to move this to the classifieds.

Items for sale must be posted to the classifieds and must have a fixed price. If there is no fixed price, it is a de facto auction, which by our rules isn't allowed.

Later:
This thread was posted as a head's up to fly fishers. We don't allow "pointer" posts, directing people to an ad on the classifieds, but because of the fly-fishing focus of the material and all the images, the post is here to show the items.

I'm calling a fair ball on the post. Good info on what a fair value is on used material. I have kids and someday hope to know what all the hooplah is about tying your own flies. Now, I'll put the 400 bones figure in the back of my mind to get into the game. Thanks. I know it was skating on classifieds and think you made the right choice by keeping it here. My guess on pricing was $375 for the record.

I hope no one took offense to the way I posted this....maybe I should have just posted it in the classifieds, but I seriously had no idea what the stuff was worth! From all the responses and pm's I think the price is fair. All contacts for buying should go to the post on the classifieds or PM's I guess! Sorry mods if I did something wrong I truly did not mean to...just hope an ifisher can benefit from this great lot of tackle!

I think that an angler of your caliber would deserve a break Bill.

The general rules, which apply to everyone, are that items for sale are required to be kept to the classified boards. 10-7, we did give Bill a break, by not moving the photos he worked so hard on. But please also keep the buying and selling on the classifieds.
