Any one who is going to fish the Deschutes on saturday they are going to drop the flow 500cfs to 3500cfs in the am to try and recover a body out of White Horse rapids. On sunday during the recovery efforts Mark Angels jet boat became disabled and sank. They lowered the flow yesterday and today by 500cfs to 3500cfs to try to recover the body but did not succeed. I think Mark got his boat back.
If you are floating that section this weekend i would try to get past White Horse before saturday or hang back at Whiskey Dick until sunday. There will be ropes across White Horse as they try to recover the body. Just an FYI and be safe out there, tight lines, brian

I would like to see the Deschutes at 500cfs. Wouldn't that make it just a trickle??? The graph shows the 2 drops to 3500 cfs, but I don't think they can go down to 500 with out an act of congress or something. Just my :twocents:, but I guess tomorrows graph will tell us.

I think he is saying that they will drop it by 500 cfs...so say from 4000 to 3500...not down to 500 cfs. At least that is what I got from his post.

I was wondering if it was Mark Angel's boat that got dumped. That has to be a first for him. Talk about a legend!
I do hope they can get that girl's body recovered. Poor family.

We all know that old yellow sled will never stay in the river long. In fact I bet it is already out with the oil changed and running. If anyone knows the story on this, I for 1 would like to hear it and pics would be a bonus.

I just got the word from BLM that they decided to drop the Deschutes a total of 1,000 cfs to 3,000 cfs tomorrow.

It was Mark Angels sled that was sunk trying to recover her remains. He was able to recover the boat and get it out for repairs. Such a sad story. My thoughts and prayer go out to her family. She was wearing a life jacket but the current still too strong. That rapid is more dangerous that people realize.
Hope they are successful so that the family's suffering can be tempered a tiny bit.
