HEY RT.BEST DAY OF THE SEASON SO FAR.Fished just above tidewater again today,it all started on the third cast 1O LB. native hen prettiest girl this season.Started down river heading to my honey hole , my girlfriends second cast she says thats no rock she lands a 12LB native buck she always does that.Needless to say it just got better through the day. These fish had just come in on a 9+ high tide and were alot of fun,we ended up with eleven hookups , nine landed caught two of the fish on pom-poms the rest were all hooked on fresh eggs . Of course she caught the biggest one a 16LB hatchery buck which we released,we already had two to carry out , boy is she deadly with bobbers , well till next time good luck. TIS THE SEASON.

Hey Mike H. Barkleys Break, Its called the garbage hole, most of the fish are suspended in the deep frog water .Boy I cant guess how deep they are today but , if there rolling like sunday start at two feet and work your depth till you hook up.Four feet was the best sunday, saturday it was six.I really dont know much about running a computer or how to e-mail yet it takes me forever to type . I have fished this river for thirty years , and the best day i ever had was a seventeen fish day in january of 98. Bobber fishing these holding areas can be simply the best when the water is this low and clear , walk softly when aproaching the holes and try to fish upstream , be stealthy, catch fish Mike H. Tis The Season.

Hey Mikie - Thanks for the tips! I was fishing @ Hellion Rapids and thats a few miles upstream from where you suggested. I'll try bobber fishing a variety of baits. Tomorrow's the big day - wish me luck. Thanks again.

Gave the lower Alsea a try this morning from 7-12 and it rained every minute. I fished Barclay Hole like Mikie suggested and was accompanied by 12 other fishermen...... I guess this hole isn't a secret. Anyways, I tried bobber/eggs, bobber/jig, and the always popular, corky/yarn. I had 3 takedowns while floating eggs but was unable to hookup with anything. I was getting hit at about 4 ft. down. As for the other fishermen, I heard of 3 fish landed and another hooked. They were hooked on bobber/jig and corky/yarn combos.
Thanks again for the tips Mikie. Maybe we'll meet up someday http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
