I spent the the weekend on the East Fork of the Blackfoot with a mix of souting, hiking, and of course fly fishing some small creek tributaries. I only fished yesterday afternoon/evening and easily broke a hundred fish. I fished small dries, mainley caddis. Almost all the fish were cutthroats and some rainbows with the occasional brown. Fishing small creeks really gives you the chance to finess your casting because of the lack of space and continous brush along the stream. These fish truely have amazing coloration.

This is Meadow Creek about 2 miles upstream of the East Fork.

This guy was on the side of the stream trying to stay out of the heat.

The first trout I ever caught was on a small stream on my grandparents ranch out of Lincoln. That was over 40 years ago. I used to pick corn and sell it in the market to get money to buy hooks. I still love a trout on a grass hopper.

I miss Montana.

Small stream trout are one of my favorite...they may not be big, but you get a lot and the scenery is amazing! Great pictures!

Looks like we picked the wrong creek on thursday. Next time I will allow more time and leave the boys at home. I still enjoyed the time in the creek even with the rain and low catch rate. Hopefully I will have a good report from the Madison or Yellowstone next week. Thanks again.
