I'm new to ifish, but I was hoping to get some information before my camping trip next week. I live in Washington, but grew up in Oregon. We've been going to Wickiup Res.(outside of Bend) for years, but have never tried warm water fishing there. We always go in mid-July and was hoping to get some info before I go next Friday. I know that Crane Prairie has good Bass fishing, but I was wondering if anybody has good info on Wickiup - we camp at Gull Point. I appreciate any help at all - the more detail the better (I'm really pretty much still a rookie at Bass fishing).

How is the fishing up in the sound?

I don't do much fishing in the Sound - but I do know the crabbing is pretty slow - worse than usual according to everyone I've talked to so far.

When I crab, it's with my father-in-law and we'll usually try to catch (and release) sea run cutthroat while waiting for the crab pots to soak, usually we end up catching a few small native steelhead instead (which are also catch and release).

Usually I stick to trout and bass (mostly trout lately), but I'll be heading up to Neah Bay late in the summer for Salmon - you can usually count on Neah Bay being good.

Welcome aboard Fortress---
I think it is customary to tell a tale about fishing when your new to Ifish. Just don't tell a story about your younger brother because that is against the rules!!!! Thanks for the link BuKu. That looks like a lot of good reading.

Hey bro.

So let me tell you about this time I was fishing with my dog (Smokey). We were coming in to the boat launch and I had already gotten out of the boat. Well, my dog was in the boat with her front paws on the dock - so my brother  pushes the boat away from the dock so that my dog falls in...

Not really, she pushed the boat away herself, but that's not how I usually tell it... :smirk:

Seriously - thanks for the info BuKuBass.
