Umpqua - I am drifting the Umpqua this weekend near Elkton. Might anyone have any good ideas on what to use and how best to use them. I am taking down two 11 year old noys and I would love them to catch fish using something other than nightcrawlers.

Thank you in advance!

I would try using small brown tubes with a jig hook. Curly tail grubs in natural colors. Small 3" platic worms or Senkos. For young boys have them throw rooster tail spinners in browns and blacks and yellows or any color for that matter. If there is some overcast you could throw some top water baits (floating rapalas or the likes). Any plastics will catch fish this time of year on the umpqua, but if they want to catch big fish that is a whole other story. If they want quanity have them throw the above items.

id say for kids have them throw grubs on an 1/8 ounce jig head from 2"-4" but mostly 2" white is my favorite to use there my next is chart. they cou8ld also throw out some weightless senkos in the above colors like 3 inch ones. But like fishlipper said these fish will bite every thing.
