Well, Friday I made a long awaited trip to the Deschutes to fish for trout. It has been a while since I have fished the Deschutes and for trout. The crowds were minimal and I didn't see to many other people fishing. The hatch of rubber rafts started about 10 AM, but they were courteous and did their best to not disturb the holes we were fishing.
The weather was good and hot, as usual. It was around 90 most of the day with the welcome occasional cloud cover. I finally left around 4 PM and there was good cloud cover developing which I'm sure improved the evening fishing.
We arrived about 6 AM, but it was light enough to fish at 5:30 AM. Caddis flies were all over the bushes and trees but rising fish were sporadic. I did catch a few on dries, but I most of my success was on nymphs. Successful flies were the usual suspects like para-adams, ehc's, hares ears, pt's, and prince nymphs. None of my fish were lunkers despite my best efforts. All of them were nice fat fish in the 12"-17" range with exception to the occasional minnow. I had forgotten how beautiful those redsides are.
I did take a few photo's and if any of them are any good I'll post 'em a little later.
