Hi - My kids now think bass fishin' is fun ( just got back from the Snake with all day catching going on...) So I am wondering where is best around here for Bass, I am usually Salmon, Steelies and Gators, so this is new to me. Have a prop boat( Jetcraft). What is best bait? Yamamoto plastics, hot shoting, crawlers, crankbait ( ah...what is that exactly) Methods that are effective? Any help would be most appreciated. If you don't want to post, a PM would be great....thanks

first thing you need to do is to get an electric trolling motor on your boat  preferably a bow mount foot controlled one...
a good way to start on the Columbia is to go above bonneville and start fishing rip rap banks that are in 10-12 feet of water, there will always be some fish on these banks my recommendations would be crankbaits, spinnerbaits then if thoes don't work try a 4 inch straight tail worm on a split shot rig.. this time of year you can also look for current seams and fish them just like you would for anything else...
I catch fat bass by the west linn paper mill on a pretty regualer basis. Just beware of the rock garden on that side of the river near the falls. Its not pretty but its where the monsters lurk. We just drop rubber crawdads on 3/8 or 1/4 oz jig heads and cast toward shore and bounce the bottem like your trying to get it snagged. :smash:
