I can take no more! I am so curious about this lake. Roger, if your out there, please, how can I get the secret map? I know this lake was a NW LEGEND 10-15 years ago, lot's of guys getting fish over nine and some over ten. All the big sticks say it isn't kicking out the toads, anymore. Roger, what's in the lake, sizewise, numberswise? (is that a word?) Anybody! Is it true that there is little or no vegetation? How many docks? trees, bushes, cover to pitch to? reeds? Deep pads? Humps? By the descriptions it sounds like it could be a fun place to fish, monsters or not! I think Basscaster and I are going to try to hit it, with P-Boy as our guide. Probably not at daylight because non of us have ever seen it, except P-Boy, and he might as well as never. he he. Thanks for any help! Dave

i fished the lake for crappie quite a few times and bass from time to time as well. All i can say is when i was up there last year there was tons of structure many channels and passages, many homes with docks and pilings al over as well, there are many fallen trees too. that lake is full of vegitation mostly padds it can be fished pretty heavy at times i see alot of bass boats there. Dave if you go there im sure you could manage a toad or two.Good luck!

Silver is better now than it has been for over 15 years! The dam on Silver Lake had a BIG hole under it and let out more than 4 feet of water. When the lake refilled the next fall allot of nutrients were added to the lake. The next spawn was incredible and the next few years where supper productive also. Even the crappie exploded. Some of this happened do to some vegetation that grew on the exposed lake bottom this cover gave the fry some place good to hide also. Now all the bass that spawned that year are around 4-5 pounds! This lake has more bass per-acre than it has for over 15 years. The resort can confirm this also. The resort tracks every fish that comes into the resort for weight and photos. Yes with most of the weeds being gone the spots bass hangout are less. This lake is off colored and the fish hold tight to cover and they tend to be very shallow. But you can always find some hogs out in 10 feet of water on brush piles or stumps and pilings. Silver lake has lots of stumps over 800 years old (BIG STUMPS). Silver has lots of logs all over the lake sitting on the bottom of the lake and some sticking out of the mud too. I have a ton of GPS spots, most I logged when the lake was down all summer. At times I would head out in a small shallow boat to find even more spots in shallow water. I did not show the mid-lake spots on my map cuz you would NEVER FIND them with out triangulation (I did that too) or my GPS way points.
More information on silver for every one to ponder.

so what your saying is fish pillings and wood (same thing duh)... wouldnt you fish them when it isnt sunny? 1 thing i like to keep in mind is fish brush when it is sunny and docks and what not when it isnt sunny. thats what ive heard?

Logs, piling, stumps, logs with bush, shallow wood and deep wood are still wood but to a bass is it not the same. At times more of the bass will perfer one type of wood cover over all the other put together at times (ding~ pattern).
You just have to go out and find what the bass are holding on and at what depth. You can find more than one pattern!
Wood is: logs (floating, sunken, with brush growing on it, old docks broken up and drifted into the shallows, logs that are raised on one end and stuck in the mud on the other, logs that are strapped down with steel cables, lumber in the water, Pilings and stumps.
The shady side of the log or wood if the sun is bright or if it’s cloudy is still the best spot on a log (most of the time!).
If it is cloudy the bass tend to move around more and set up on the outer edge of cover like pads, docks, brush. When the sun comes out the bass tend to look for shade more and will hold more tightly to the cover. East of the resort are a few docks, other than the docks you will find a few logs in a bit deeper water and just a bit of cover shallow. So when the sun comes out some of the bass will move to the docks to hang out and feed if they do not have to work for the food to hard. The bass can move the the docks not far away or they would have to make a longer run for good cover or the bass could just move to deeper water. The docks I am talking about are much better when the sun is out but they normally will hold some bass any time in the summer. The docks are a LONG way from Good cover like pads so the numbers of bass that can be found on the dock are less than other docks or other shade near good cover.
More cover = more bass (most of the time). Some time when the sun is out and it is hot out - drive your boat into a good pad field and you will spook lots of bass just under the pads. If it is cloudy you will not spook many! Learn how the bass react to weather conditions and you will catch more bass. Any question pitch ?

Thanks, Roger and everyone! Roger, if you gave me lat and long, I can get right to any submerged cover with my GPS. As much as I appreciate it, I think I will just find stuff in there the hard way if I get a chance to go. Maybe the map will get me started and I sure appreciate it- also the info on the posts. I kind of got a handle on what it looks like and water clarity looking at Rogers map and picture, thanks, fishlipper! Still would like to know if it has kicked out any or many over the magic eight, since the dam breached, anybody? Thanks! Dave

Well don't expect too much out of me- I blow at summer fishing. My truck is fine I just needed to lend it to my wife that one weekend to haul a bunch of useless junk to my in-laws. Unless, ofcourse they're reading this then I meant a bunch of family aerlooms. It's not looking good for hitting Silver this week as I am burried in work but we will make it happen asap as long as P-Boy can avoid any break-dancing injuries. Sorry, I couldn't help it. I left my post like that and just read it and it seemed so "normal". Dave

Lovin the live reports. Good to hear your having fun Pitch!
You need to con the parents into a cheap digital camera for ya. It would really add to these live reports. I was under the impression every kid these days had a camera phone?
Actually I'm glad you don't. Better to spend your time on the boat rather than the phone.
