I'm from Minnesota and did a lot of fishing on there before the slot limits came on. My buddies back there are saying it's not easy getting the keepers but you can't miss getting the oversize. Great for catch and release.
Also.....the BIG muskies have been hitting on the north end of the lake. Check it out. Many in the 35" to 50" range.
Make sure you get a lake map with location of some of the mud flats in the center to north end of the lake. Top location for big walleyes.

If I remember correctly the fish will be out on the mud flats like 7 or 9 mile flat. Night fishing is fun too with lighted slip bobbers. We fished lindy rigs with long leaders on the mud flats during the day and moved closer in at night. I fished mostly the mid lake area. GPS is needed to run out to the mid lake mud flats.

If I remember right the south end is more rock reefs, mid lake mud flats and the north end is sand.

In depth angling is good site.

Bring your bug spray!

It has been a few years though and I am sure things have changed.

Used to ice fish Mille Lacs every winter. Overnight in the fishhouse, playing cards with my Dad. Good times. Anyone remember catching their first eelpout?
