Went to Tillamook today for a little turkey dinner (OK a lot of turkey). Fished the Trask for a little over an hour and saw no action http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif

After making a miserable drive over the hill in heavy rain. I was backing the drift boat into the driveway ...... and ...... well .....um....um .... should have stopped a little sooner. I poked a baseball (softball) sized hole in the garage door. I dont see a simple fix for this double car garage door. Maybe I will make shutters and hang them over the hole, Maybe I will put in a window, Maybe I will just admit to the wife this was stupid and try to find a cheap fix to an expensive door. Anybody got a good idea? Kind of ended the day on a bad note.

And no fish to show for either! At least you got some time on the river instead of playing those dang board games!

I am no garage door expert, but most of them have replacement panels so you won't have to replace the entire door. Then again there is always duct tape http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Bummer on the door. Sounds like a good spot to install a "pass through electrical outlet" to plug your diesel into if you have one. Just put a weatherproof outlet on the outside and a box on the inside with mail plugs installed. You can find them for on-board charging systems for boats at Fiserman's Marine or one of the catalogues we all get. Then you can plug a cord into the inside, and one into the outside and not have to open your door for power. Depending on how fast you were going when you hit, you may need a double outlet! Just a thought.

Roy, The repair procedure depends on the size, what type door and the kind of material the door is made of. Is it fiberglass? aluminum? wood? painted metal? insulated or uninsulated? Does it have horizontal hinged panels and an electrical opener? Did it get hit in a seam (fold) or on in a flat clear spot? And Roy, you are not the only or first one to do this, in fact it is very easy to do. Just a moments distraction and BAMMO!! If that is any consolation!

Hey Bait, don't feel bad. I have had my share of back-up blues! The first time I couldn't even get my new boat off the lot. I was backing my jet boat to the dealer's shop door and with the top up I didn't see their tractor. Bent the prop on the kicker. But wait, there's more! Same boat but at home this time. I was in a hurry while I was backing my boat into the garage when I heard a loud crack! Well what do you know, I forgot to put the top down! I got rid of that boat and I now use a ground guide; namely my wife. I realized that it is better to swallow my pride and ask my wife for assistance than to listen to her after I have broken something. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sell me your 3 crabtraps for the price of two and now you will have plenty of money to get the door professionally fixed and you can do something else constructive, Like make more crabtraps.

Well, at least you completely "punched" through the door. A 'Dade County Florida' fisherman would have stopped in time, accidentally denting it, and their wife would have called it a clearly intentional hole, all the way through.

Sorry...I don't know where that came from.

I was draining my drift boat last winter after it filled with rain water on the way home from fishing when I heard a loud crashing noise. Apparently, enough water drained out to balance the boat so it rolled downhill and put the tongue of the trailer through the back of my new Expedition's rear window. Did you know rear windows cost $1,500?
