I have a 1968 Mercury O.B. 9.8HP that may need a new/used stator or parts of stator. Would appreciate recommendation where to take it for inspection and repair. The stator is no longer available new that I can find. Thanks in advance.

Faulkners in NW could help you.

They rebuilt an old one I had a few years ago.

They aren't too hard to install yourself. I did the ones on my Evinrude/ Johnson outboards.

Also, for parts, try Oregon Outboard Salvage on Foster Rd in portland. I've had good luck finding stuff there!

Perhaps they moved, but they are not at the Foster location anymore.

I guess it's been a while since I've been there, I'll have to see if I can find them again

You don't say where you are located. Mike's Mercs in Salem specializes in older Mercs and is very reasonable.
