Michael Teague, Bob Rees, and crew have the best most comprehesive periodical fishing report/forecast ever. Very worthwhile, especially for the weekend fishermen. The only drawback, as with others, is that it's a once per week update and conditions change so fast. They make up for that with experienced criteria for a week long forecast. Good deal too. - RT

The Guide's Forecast along with information posted on this site are the best things to happen to Oregon sportfishing in a long time. Instead of in the past, when you had to make phone call after phone call to get info for a planned fishing excursion, all you have to do now is log on to get up to the minute info. I believe that these two sites will be integral in helping on the assault of winter brats this season! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Does the Guide's report cover the Snohomish, Sky and/or the Snoqualmie?

Whatever help I can get, I will try.

Thanks,

I'll ditto what other's have said. MT's musings appear in the local paper but I still pay for the subscription. Between this board and thier forecast, F&H news is outta here!

Your more than willing to pay for good info, glad you said that. Because when this site becomes a pay site thank your self. But hay look at it like this, at least you"ll be a member to 2 paysites. Of course good info is priceless. Once a monster has been created it is hard to tame.

When in doubt set the hook,

Shannon

Well I guess it will be up to Jen if this site go to pay. That's life. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif Not a lot of difference from buying licences, tags, ramp fees, park fees, etc. I would guess that if it wasnt for a few sponsors this site would not exist at all.

Does anyone subscribe to this? Is it worth the price of admission?

fishlipz,

I've been a subscriber since they started charging a fee. Pretty cheap, less than 30 cents a week for weekly reports for a year. they are pretty good about having reports out every friday, Helps me make decisions right before the weekend. I enjoy their "ramblings..." and Sail Cats feedback from other fishers. I give it two thumbs UP!

This site will not go to a pay site!
The only reason I have sponsors, is because I never thought this page would get so big! I didn't start it as a financial prospect, I started it because I love fishing.
Actually, here is the real story of ifish.net:
Three years ago, I became totally disabled, my eye site was deteriorating, and my other symptoms of marfan syndrome made it very difficult for me to continue playing gigs outside the home. I used to travel quite a bit, playing the piano, and teaching at home.
I got a computer, well, actually, my boyfriend at the time, got the computer, and I became so fascinated with it, that I had to learn how it worked!
I took classes in html, and my ISP, a very dear man who took me under his technical wing, encouraged me to learn. He gave me tasks to perform. I bought several books and software, and he gave me others on cgi, javascript, java, and I couldn't stop reading about it. This is weird for me, never thought I was a technical person, and still don't think of me as that!
Don, my isp, gave me a domain to work with, to try and get listed on search engines. Since I also wasn't able to fish as often as possible, I chose to write about it, as many people choose hobbies to start their first web page.
My task was to try and see how well I could get this domain listed on search engines. At the time, the content was very minimal. Oops! I succeeded in getting it listed really well, and people started hitting the page requesting more... more!
"More fishing info? Do you know any good guides? Whats the weather like? How bout a discussion board?" On and on....I was tickled pink with the then 100 or so hits I would get a day.
As I tried to add everything I needed, I found that domains and web pages and everything they require cost money!
As a single Mom on disability, 304 a month didn't cover it! whadda surprise!
So, sponsors became a necessity, and still don't cover everything I need, and pay for the time it takes me away from other work.
Luckily, I use ifish as a sort of portfolio for prospective web page clients to prove that I can build and maintain a workable online site. Thus, I make my "living" doing that.
Sure, I would love ifish to pay me lots of money, so that I could bathe my kids and I in boats and toys, and Christmas joys, but it just doesn't.
Ifish is a lot of work, but it is also a source of extreme pride for me. I have also met more wonderful friends than I can count.
Is that not payment enough?
As long as I maintain Ifish.net, I will work off of the budget that it provides.
Technology advances so fast, and as new online toys, like new chat boards, new discussion board become popular, and you guys want it, I will provide it. It was YOU who helped pay for this UBB. I think that is neato! It was you that helped pay for the decals too! When something is needed, I ask for help. You are always there. This is a true community site!
(By the way, I need a new G Loomis... http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

A special thank you is needed here for the tackle shops, guides and charters who also provide an annual due that helps to keep us going. My hope is that you will support them! I have taken great care in trying to pick honest, reputable, and excellent people to be on ifish.
My two cents on the guides forecast is that it is a wonderful site, providing excellent reports that cost money to send out! I doubt highly that they are rolling in the bucks due to the slight fee they charge.
Think back to the days of phone calling for hours to find out which river is producing and then wondering if the answer you received was true.
Enroll at the guides forecast, and then check with the people here too. You can't get any better info! Annnnnnnnd you can't make any better friends than the ones I have met myself, through ifish.
To have someone like R.T., willing to give the info he does seems to me to be pretty darn neato!
Man, I'm rambling! It's 5 in the morning... what did I write???

Jen
