A buddy of mine has a 175 sport jet in a 20' Duckworth. With 4 guys in it, it takes about 15 minutes to plane, if ever. It has over 600 hours and plenty of sand/gravel through it. The motor runs great.
Is there some sort of wear ring that need replacing in addition to the impeller? I've been searching google without much success.

I have the factory service manual for a sj online.I think I can email it to you.You have to replace the whole housing.

Sounds like the wear ring is worn out! His best bet is to remove the impeller and wear-ring assembly housing and send them up to Canada and have a stainless steel insert put in, and the impeller sharpened and matched. The factory wear rings are aluminum and very suseptible to wear! Having this done gives you a bullet proof wear-ring with increased performance over new factory, and costs less then a new factory housing!

Sounds like they must machine out the wear ring housing and put an insert in.I would be interested in any links if you have them.
Thanks,
