Im gonna be down in the Medford area next weekend and i was wondering if there are any good rivers down there to do some bank fishing on? I know about the rougue but didnt know if anyting was running there and have never fished it before. Also might be heading over to the coast from Medford anything in that area? Any info would be nice.
Thanks.

Hit the Rogue from about Grants Pass down for bright half pounders and some early winter steelhead. Most of the salmon are rather grey by now, although a late run did pass through the bay just a few weeks ago. Take the Merlin exit north of Grants Pass and head toward the coast from there. The whole section around Galice has plenty of bank access and should hold fish this time of year.

Jeremy:

You may also want to check out summer steelhead on the upper Rogue below Barrier Dam. Rogue/Elk park has some good bank access - also several launches have some access. Great fly-fishing water. It's late, but they do fish the run through November. Mark Swisher of Ashland Fly Shop Guide Services, www.ashlandflyshop.com, (http://www.ashlandflyshop.com,) can give you an update (541) 482-1430. Great guide!

I'd head out toward Shady Cove and on up as far as just below the hatchery. I was down there on the first for the bait operner and fished with guide Bill Urie and we landed 22 fish over 20". All done side drifting eggs. The river is plenty low so bring light stuff and I think you'll have a good time.
