Is 1000 hrs scarey for a honda 45?

It's equal to about 25000 miles on a car engine.

Good Luck

It depends more on how the hours were amassed rather than the total number at that level. Boats seem to run either at idle or full throttle. 25k mile in a race car is a lot but in a long haul trucker it is just getting broken in. Is this a new to you motor or one you have had and taken care of?
Doc.

--this is new to me twin 45's on an 18foot welded.
--expect this was a guide boat returned to dealer so alternated trolled fairly equal hours on each. expect regular maintenance as could not afford to be let down.
--look in good shape will get compression test etc. expect to get more information before I purchase. boat appears in excellent shape does not look abused just well used.
--concern is I also expect to use the boat often so have to conscider how long before I'd have to replace these into the price thanks.

My suggestion would be to take the motors for a full diagnostic at a legit dealer of that motor manufacturer, and then you'll know.... Just a thought.
