Boat rod storage ideas needed

I have an 18' forward helm Willie. Storing rods in the side tray is near impossible. Usually I lay my rods towards the back of the boat, open to step on and break.
Was wondering if any of you guys have developed a system, or rod storage gizmo on a boat that keeps them out of the way and safe from breakage.

I added one of the ProMotion 4-rod rocket launchers. It clamps to the side tray. It will work until I can afford a wakeboard tower with lotsa' rocket launchers.

It's promotionfishingproducts, but you can also buy their products at GI Joes. Another possibility is a 4 or 6 rod storage rack from Cabelas. It attaches with a 4 screws.
