I spent May this year fishing the Willamette river tribs for springers. With the numbers of fish around down this year, we had to work hard for the fish. Covering lots of water seemed to pay off with ok fishing; it actually was a little better than last year. I averaged 1.9 fish per client a day this May, just missing out on a-two-a-day-per-person average. Our worst day we hooked 3 and got 2 keepers. Our best day we hooked 15 and landed 11 with 8 keepers and three nates.

Here are some picture highlights from May. All of these fish were taken on eggs.

With a fair number of fish in the Willamette and Columbia this year, there should be good trib. fishing in almost all valley streams well into early July this year.
