I wanted to try for some silvers this week if I can get a day off work. Is it still worth going to the Lewis/Cowlitz. How long do these runs usually hold up? How about the Toutle or Kalama?

'Slinger, I was going to fish the Cow with some friends Sat. but my Bronco started sputtering big time (clogged injectors?) so I couldn't make it. The reports I got Friday were that despite the nets being out in the lower Col. for the last 3 weeks there was still good silver fishing from the Barrier Dam down to Blue Cr., but many were turning color. NF Lewis reports were it's a hit and miss thing with fish being caught up near the hatchery area. --- Any of you guys posting in the long 'Powerstroke ...' truck thread, I will post my truck symptoms and maybe get some ideas before I drop it off to the mechanic? Thanks. - RT

Slinger',
Fished the Barrier Dam on Friday and had a a** kickin' day. Ended up with 2 nice hens and a buck in the boat and lost a couple of others. One of the hens was a chromer and the other had started to turn but wasn't dark by any means. One of the one's I lost acted like a nate steelie, arobatics galore and a screamin' down river run and jump that ended up with my line all wrapped up in the gill plate, broke me off but what fun. Next 3 weeks should be good, no nets in the Columbia and still lots of silvers left to get to the hatchery. Last year we were gettin' fish all the way to the end of November!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Hot report for cowlitz bank fishing Barrier dam just below dam just as it starts to get late in the evening and everyone is leaving but before the hour after sunset. Use small peach glow ball with eggs and hang on! Reliable source 6 fish every night

I fished the N. Lewis on Saturday, fished from the Golf course to Johnson creek. We picked up 4 adults and 3 jacks for three rods and lost a couple as well. The fish we landed were all bright fish. There are plenty of fish in the river but it would be tough to find a six fish limit of biters. The lucky few that have the "secret cure" seem to be doing rather well in the meat hole if you don't mind playing bumper boats.
Good Luck!!
