I had got word from Superfly earlier that he heard the Satsop was getting awfully low. The friends I'm going with tomorrow talked to a guide friend from up there just a bit ago and he said it's too low in both the upper and lower Satsop to be worth boating it. So we are probably going to the Cowlitz below the Barrier Dam instead. Hey 'Yall, I know you fish there. We will be in a 20' white Motion Marine jetsled with Ifish stickers. Wave if you go there and happen to see us. I wanna see if you play salmon like you would a bass to find out if that's why they keep kickin' your @$$. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif (jk). Have a good one. - RT

Hey R.T., you heard right. The Satsop is very low and gin clear. The east fork is so low that we had both get out and drag the boat several times. I fished the east fork and the main branch five or six times in the past couple of weeks. Did very well after the freshets. We saw no new fish on Thursday. Drifted (dragged and pushed) from Cook Creek to the bridge. Saw a few old fish roll here and there, nothing on the move. Fished it hard Thursday and only managed a couple of aligator dogs and a dark silver.
My advice...don't waste the fuel getting there. Do the upper Cowlitz. Still putting out limits (6) from the dam to blue creek. The riff just above the rock has been very, very good to me! (Freezer full, eggs for the winter). The fish are not big and bad like the Satsop fish, but they will take eggs and spinners. Hope this helps...Later..P
