Rumor has it, the salmon fishing on the Elk River is picking up. I think it’s a pretty good source it’s my brother in-law. Him and his son have been bring home a couple of fish a night must be nice to live on that river. It’s a long drive but I think I will be making that trip next weekend.

The Elk river is really my home river.. I fish it at least once a week, from Nov. 1 through March 31. The fall Chinook season is just now getting under way on both the Elk and Sixes rivers. A really good rain storm that produces a few good inches of rain wouldn't hurt things any.

Fishing on these two rivers will last through December, when it is shutoff on the Sixes. Due to the hatchery program on the Elk river, it will fish through the end of the month (Dec.)

Most people pull plugs, and back bounce eggs and some cast hardware.

Both of these rivers as wonderful late river fisheries, however, are very popular. Due to the time of the year, the total number of fishing days seem to be limited, November is usually our big storm month and the rivers flood quite regularly, but be there when the drop into shape.

If you would ilke an up to date report or other information, please feel free to contact me or the Elk river hatchery @ 541-332-7025
