Well in my conquest to catch salmon, I need to catch a chum, pink, and a sockeye. Yes, it's true, I have caught silvers. Now any advice on catching chums out of the Skykomish River and also out of Hoodsport will be appreciated...ya know it will be. I will be fishing from a boat in Hoodsport so hook a brotha up with some tips for these big doggies. Also, if there's bank access there, let me know that too. I know sockeyes will be the hardest for this bank maggot to catch so they will be last in my conquest. Also, are there any bass fishermen on this board? I hear all about other fish, and this is a fishing board, and I never hear anyone speak of it. Just wondering....Thanks everyone and happy halloween....if your house gets TP'd tonight...don't blame me this time http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey Os & TM,
A little bird told me that there were starting to be good numbers of BIG dogs in the Satsop now. Might not be a bad bet if you want to avoid the crowds at Finch Cr.
Email me and I'll give you the skinny.......

Hey yall
If you want the low down on chums check out my post on hoodsport . about the sky I dont have a clue another river that has bank access is kennedy creek but i would only recomand that place as a last resort. the place makes all your gear stink really bad.
have you ever thought about johns creek out hiway 3 by the bayshore golf course it has boat access but its about a 5-10 min. run cuz you have to put in at the yacht club. best time for bank access is low tide. green yarn and red corkies for hens or just stright green bucks. good luck http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The run at johns creek has petered out.Problem with the yacht club lanch is the tide.you need high tide to lanch a good size boat and dont get down the ramp to low and in the mud its deep...TM

Howdy,
If you want to hook Chum in the Sky I'd recommend using a 5/8oz. pink Pot-o-Gold(Humpy Special) in the back-eddy water. I like to position myself down-stream of the eddy and cast to the upper edge and count it down, then slowly retreive it to my feet. Counting down will allow you to avoid getting hung up so often.(shorten the count until no more wood is encountered)
Good Luck Ya All
hey_yall, I'm a bassin' man. I started doing that years ago when the salmon runs started to go in the toilet. It's great when I'm out in the Willamette hooking pre-spawn smallies and watching the salmon fisherman watch all the other salmon fisherman not catching anything. However, that scene has changed in the last couple of years with the Willamette springer run improving. It's great fun fishing for a fish that actually FEEDS. Those bass aren't dumb, you have to trick them into biting. E-mail me if you wish.---Smj
