Down stream from the coast highway ramp it is posted that you can use a power boat. I have a 16 foot sled, is it passable and worth while. How far is it fishable and what workes best. I read that bobber fishing is used in that area?

Casteal, the water below that ramp is narrow and extremely snaggy. It is also mostly frog water that the fish just move thru quickly. You can hook fish there occassionally but not often, and if you do it's difficult to ever land one among the snags. Is it worthwhile there? Not with so many better alternatives.

Funny thing this topic should come up.
Last year I floated the Trask and it was still high so I knew the fishing was on the Kilches so I drove down to the ramp and stood at the takeout and watched the boats come in.
Two boats one sled and one driftboat with a kicker came up from below, They were both locals one was a guide. Both will remain nameless. They were very quiet and did not talk to anyone who asked how the fishing was.
I did hear them say they didnt catch any fish, then saw them unload at least two nice fish.
This was one of those days when the river was bumper to bumper boats drifting down and they just didnt want to fight the crowd and had a better option.
I later asked if the fish I saw were caught below the bridge and was told no that they were caught drifting up above earlier in the day.
DUHH dont ask questions when you know what the answer is.
I agree with RT even seeing what I did I don't think I would hassle with going after fish down there. You must have to fish with rope and broomstick and drag them out of the water.
PS: so RT think that was convincing enough, Ill meet you at the ramp and we will go fish below the bridge like we planned.

Thankyou for the advice. I will mostlikly ignore it because my drift boat is a Buck's
Bronco. Wet and Cold!

Probably shouldn't share this one( I'll get in trouble from a partner) But, it seems I spend more time with you guys these days, anyway. When the Trask turns brown , the Wilson is high and the Kilchis is collecting mid-section traffic. This section is where I head...and I (we) have done quite well there, during the late October and November storm seasons. There are problems, however. At high levels this section is narrow, swift and has lot of bank brush and snags. As humble as it looks, it can be rather dangerous boating country. Manuevering spaces are tight. You better know your tiller and your throttle well. Beyond that, we have done very well in this section driftfishing the outside corners and sweeps. At high water, the current runs quickly here and the slow spots produce. There are several good highwater spots within the first quarter mile of the launch. When you hook up, it is meathog time. No sporting rigs here...too much brush around. If you've got your ol' Harrington 409 hanging around from the big-pig days, dust it off and put it to work in this section.
