I need help. Tomorrow a friend & I are going to try bass fishing in the Willy around Cedar Oaks. I am an avid Steelheader and have only fished for small mouth on the Umpqua. What might I use and where should I look for them. I have a drift boat with a kicker and was thinking about heading up stream from Cedar Oak and fishing the rocks off Mary S. Yound Park. Thank you for any possible suggestions!

Mary S. Young should do you good. This time of year you can use a multitude of things but as a soft plastic fisherman I recommend senko's of the 3in variety with a split shot 12in above the hook, or 4in weightless. Another thing you can do is fish craw cranks and bouce them off the rocks and run them down the rip rap. Another way is just a good old fashion worm, you can pick up everything that way. Depends what you want to do. Ill be out there this afternoon out of Willy Park.

Don't forget your tube baits, especially the redish/orng craw colors. Texas rig it or carolina, your choice. If the bottom is round river rock and not too snaggy I might also try a weedless 1/4-3/8oz "Bitsey Bug" jig and a yum chunk trailer (blk jig & blue trailer or dark red jig and orng trailer).
And of course I'd toss the black roostertail as well.
And like sandz said, the craw cranks.
Water is still pretty high so their should be plenty of water on the back sides of Hog & Cedar islands. You might also work the area above Ross Is. up to Meldrum Bar.
Good luck and don't forget the camera.
