I am hanging up the salmon gear for a 4 day weekend at Billy Chinook. I have removed all of the heavy gear and re-outfitted the boat with downriggers for Kokanee and all of my Bass gear.

I have only one burning question in my mind......has anyone been fishing over there in the past few weeks. If so could you give me an update. I have never fished Kokanee but want to give the new downriggers a test run. I don't have a clue as to the depth to fish Kokanee especially on Billy Chinook.

All the pointers i can get would be greatly appreciated.

Kokanee fishing has been good up around the Perry South area in about 40 feet or so I'm told. Haven't made it over there this year. As for bass try the rocks across from the marina in the Crooked River arm where the state docks there house boats. You'll see lots of structure on both sides of the arm up and down from that. I used to use 3 inch grubs and crankbaits. Lots of fish but very few in the nice fish catagory. Lots of dinks
