View Full Version : Thank God for Larry
Took my brand new broken rod to GIJoes today. Larry at the back counter listened to my story, and let me pick out a new one. No problems! I love it when something works out great! Take your business to him, he is at the Hillsoboro GIJoes!
Now I just have a broken Lamiglas to take care of. I have had it for a few years so I have to send it to the factory. They are going to repair it for 72 bucks. I guess that is worth it, 140 brand new. Anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to ship the rod up there? I know take it up myself, but what about shipping? Thanks!

PVC pipe is the way to go. A piece of this pipe is very inexpensive and indestructable. Buy a couple of endcaps and duct tape them on just to make sure nobody along the route gets curious as to whats inside.
Zaq,
Hit the local hardware store or plumbing supply store, an get a length of PVC pipe and a couple caps. Glue one end on, and tape the other end on once the rod is inside, and voila, you have a hard case good for shipping and traveling with.
PS: If you're shipping via UPS, insure it for what a new one costs, it's only $.35 per hundred dollars of insurance.
Fish on.......

Zak, Are you just hard on rods's? I had my Lamiglas rebuilt several years ago, bought it in mid 70's been to Northwest Territories Great Slave lake and Cabo...stood up to a Seal at the straights of Georgia....like a timex watch it takes a licking and still keeps ticking...I like Lamiglas over Loomis never seen that much difference except that I have heard that Loomis doesn't do warrenty.
When all 230 pounds of my fat comes crashing down on it, it doesnt keep on ticking. LOL http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Steve,
There was quite a discussion awhile back on rod warranty. Loomis vs. Lamiglas etc.
I have had good luck both places. Some of the other contributors to this board were not as lucky. If you get a chance you might want to check the archive.
Take Care, Rich
I forgot to tell you guys that it was a Berkly Buzz Ramsey rod. I couldn't believe they replaced it. Thanks Joe's!

Dot just had her GL replaced, no questions asked either. It was broken behind the second guide, and dont even know how it happened. We just drove there and gave them the broken rod and they mailed a new one to her three days later http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
