Looking to take my son fishing Friday afternoon, and if like last week probably all weekend. Havent heard any reports on the Clackamas River Salmon/ Steelhead. I'm not sure I want to fight bank crowds on Eagle creek again, and the Sandy River just didnt seem like a good prospect due to chalky water color when we were there last week. Open to any other ideas of areas in the Portland area as well.

Nope I dont Tanner, sigh maybe someday. Im just one of those bank maggots. It looks like the neighbor boy is going too so that means I need to find a spot with room for all three of us. Just hadn't heard anything about Clackamas. Thanks for answering.

You might try parking at barton bridge and walk down to where Deep Creek flows into the clackamas, I have had some luck in october there. But if you fish there please be carful releasing full finned fish, there is, what's left of it, a run of natives that go up Deep Creek. Fish black&red bolo's and drift egg's at the head of the hole.

I hear the Tarpon are running in Johnson Creek right now. No really, the Clack should be a good bet from Feldheimer down if you have a drift boat.

Thank You for the info and we will release any full finned fish. So far we have mostly been practicing, but just maybe we'll get lucky soon and catch one. It amazesme how many people have no regard for waterways and their resources.

Fishlessinoregon, you mean there is actually a run even a remanent few that go up Deep Creek? My great grandfather lived just above Ammisinger bridge for years I have never seen a smolt or much as a crayfish in years on the creek...figured non-point pollution had sterilized the stream....if true this is good news....

Nothing doing on the Clackamas today. Fished Barton Park. Water clear but looked good. No fish rolling. Maybe a jack or two or larger whitefish. Very few fisherfolk.

Heard it was that way up toward and in Eagle Creek. Anyone come across any new coho in the Clackamas?

I talked to the lady up at eagle creek hatchery just the other day and she said that the run has not even peaked yet. Actually this was about a week ago. She said they continue to get silvers in there up till about the end of november. So there must be some fish making there way up the Clack. Get up there and go get em. We have been catching one or two good fish per drift and I am no clackmas river expert. I usually fish down at the coast this time of year but with the slow reports i've been chasing these clackmas silvers. good luck

Here's my update spent all weekend and Monday fishing Clackamas, and Eagle Creek areas. Saw fish rolling around Barton bridge area. We did hike in to Deep creek first. Then while we were fishing under the bride a man told us due to flood of 96 Deep Creek wasnt as good as it used to be. He did say he had gotten two fish from the area we were in last couple days. Fished Carver area didnt see any fish or fisherman, just drift boats. Eagle Creek still seemed to be the place most were at. All the fish I saw were red. Saw one snagged in the tail, but it broke the guys line. Its good to hear still a run, my son argued that we missed it. I did get kinda grumpy with all the hiking we did looking for THE spot. I'm just not 20 anymore.
