Yup... I was confused as to why anyone would pose for a pic with a fish like that.
But howabout RK... King of the TightyWhitey's?! :yay:

Dave, you have GOT to be kidding me.

I teach you how to cast and tie knots, and this is the thanks I get?

Okay, under extreme duress from an ifish member, Darian can actually catch a trout or two on the Deschutes. I think he poses better with those bright Wilson River fish.

Not to mention doing everything to get him into a springer short of handing one off... er... wait a second.

The Deschutes is still running high 6,440cfs out of the Dam, 4,605cfs is average for this time of year. It is fishing good just fish closer in. No need to wade out far to reach the fish. The Salmon fly hatch could be late if they keep the river running high, Back in the mid 90's when the river ran high in to late june we were catching redsides on Salmon flies up to the 4th july. The colder water temps and higher water can push the salmon fly hatch back by a few weeks. Still worth fishing, tight lines, brian

Hand off? I don't need no stinkin' hand off.

I hit the D last weekend and despite the high water, the fishing was decent. No surface action really, but it was still fun tying into a few redsides. Contrary to what you may read on some of the reports, you dont have to use a San Juan Worm or egg pattern....regular nymphs outfished the San Juans and glo bugs by far for me.

Then gimme that fish back, biznatch!

Fellow fly fisherman, it appears that bigimaginarytrout gets turned on by posting pics of me :hoboy:, and I am sorry to all of you who were subject to that in your efforts to get at the substance of this thread!

I got a report from a reliable source (aka no one on this board ) today that corroborates what is posted above, that the fish have been cooperative even though the river is quite a bit higher than normal for this time of year, and off color. This means guys like me who have a specific regimen of riffles, buckets, and holes that they like to hit in an orderly fashion may have to abandon those spots and do some recon fishing.

I can confirm that the Deschutes is fishing well. Two photos from the weekend before last (6800 CFS and a 12 fish day).

I also caught the biggest whitefish I've ever seen (longer than my landing net - 20 inches).

Please treat the river and the fish (even the whities) like the treasures they are.
