Working WAY too much but snuck out and found out that I need to learn to cast all over again (backlashes!) Lake Lyttle was tough- 6 or eight fish total- here were the biggest- maybe a few others close to these- biggest was 7-3 with a huge belly (like it's captor)all caught on sweet beavers except swimbait fish (weighed 6-15) Hope everyone is getting a chance to get out in this nice weather! And that swimbait?...Looks like what I've used for Lings last year. I used a Storm 9Inch(?). Anyway, I love the swimbait Idea. Kudos! :applause: :applause:

dave,
you said that fishing was tough on the lake that day.
what in great tarnations are you talking about?!

i have fished hard for years and never held a 5 pounder
on my thumb. to go out and have several hogs in a day,
that's great fishing.

to me - tough fishing means consecutive bass
trips and not a single fish to show. welcome to my world.
outstanding job!

thanks, guys. it really was slow/tough that day but anyone determined could've caught the few I caught that day and probably more. There were a few places where I had to make an extremely difficult pitch into super thick cover, but many came from open water- just casting a jig out and crawling or hopping it along the bottom until you feel that little "tick". Go get'em! Dave

Determined; is the key word Dave. Good job.

I just got back from fishing Dorena & Cooper Creek Res. Dorena was tough to say the least. We fished Dorena Friday and Saturday in mostly 57 degree temps. Only one boat took any bass. They got three in about the 2 to 3 lb range.

Today on Cooper Creek fishing was better and we got several Largemouth. None of any real size though. No pics. Most of them came on Smallie Beavers.

We pounded Dorena with everything we had to no avail. We stuck with it, but cold and super clear water, high winds and no cloud cover made for a couple slow days.

Way to hang in there- yeah, Dorena is fickle and highly pressured- sure has some nice fish, though.

I have to ask, what kind of line do you use for that huddleston. I have a couple but am wierd about what line to use for it.

Yup, Dennis, that should've been your fish. The difference between catching and not catching is sometimes a minuscule detail. Call me, I have a second-hand (but reliable) tip for ya for lot's of big fish in a low or no pressure, easy to fish area. I am headed out to shoot cormorants and turns, will be back wednesday night.
