I have crabbed for years in Nehalem bay but cant remember if the bigger crabs and more numbers are at the end of a low tide or high tide, can somebody out there remind me? I am pretty sure that it is best if you hit it just before the low-slack-incoming happens but cant remember thanks

Jeremy the rule of thumb is 1 hour before full flood to 1 hour past. I sometimes work low tide closer to the ocean, but only if crabbing is the only thing going.....I like pots over rings...set and forget...if you wait too long the current will sink your bouys and you have to wait 5/6 hours...many marinas make money selling the same lost traps..not really...Jetty Fisheries and Brighton moorage are 2 good sources of information....good luck...Saw Crab at Thriftway for $11.00 each....

I've almost always gone for high-slack crabbing, so as Mr. Spock would say: "Insufficient data, Captain."
Either high or low should be productive, I should think. Beats workin' !

We usually start 1-2 hours before high tide and go up to hour after tide. Night has always produced much better results for us.
I too would rather crab or fish then work, but darn it someone's got to pay the bills.

Jeremy, I guess I am the oddball here...I have had great success during the 2 hrs around low slack...on both T-Bay & Nehalem
