Went to Eagle Creek today for the first time i had never been there before and was looking to take a look around at the hatchery but missed it somehow and ended up on George road way above the creek saw about 10 cars parked at a gated road and decided to try it out. By the time i wandered through the woods i got to the creek and there was only a couple people there, can you walk the whole length of the creek or is it private? Fished a couple of holes but couldnt get any hooked in the mouth there was alot of fish in there though. Saw one guy with a nice bright fish but he already had it with him so i dont know if he snagged it or not. Where is the hatchery at on Eagle Creek and how do you get there also where are the good spots to fish. There were tons of cars down lower where the road is along the creek so i figure that is where most of the heavy snagging is going on. Someone help me out on locations here.
Thanks
Steve

Jeremy, I live in the area so by your discription it sounds like you walked into the upper ladder area if it was a Green Gate, that is Longview Fibre Co. land and is o.k. just don't cross any fences. about a mile up the road is another access point on top of the hill first corner before the George Fire station. about a mile walk in. Steep plan on at least 45 minutes to an hour walk..past the Fire Station and 90 degree corner is another 90 degree corner there is a straight stretch of road at the upper end of the straight stretch is Rainbow rd. turn right and follow the gravel road to the bottom of the hill..this is the Eagle Creek National Fish Hatchery...access below the hatchery is limited and most of the fish that make that far are dark...good education to make the tour...I would if I were to fish Eagle Creek go to Bonnie lure park off Dowty rd. at 211 and 224 turn right walk down the private rd. if the pay box it there make sure to drop $$$. I haven't been there this year and may be posted...otherwise work your self down on the south side of the creek to the confluence with the Clackamas should be some fish waiting to come up. Haven't heard if the Silvers have made it up to Rivermill yet.
There is a lot of construction as they are filling the dam with concrete....may have to come in from the McIver park side and walk up to the dam...Good luck...Steve
