View Full Version : Wilson Tidewater
I was thinking about putting in at Sollie Smith and drifting down a bit. How far up does the tide affect the level of the river? I would be rowing down and up. Thanks all!

ZaQ, good luck getting back up to the bridge.
Giz...
That sounds encouraging. This past Sunday I rowed down to the railroad trestle from Roy crick on the Nehalem. Mile or more maybe, took me 2 hours to row back up! But, I made it.

Taking out at Sollie can be a pain with the current. (And without an anchor is even worse, right RT?) I'm fairly strong on the oars and couldn't imagine rowing back up with the low water. If you have an outboard, put it on your boat and motor down. Good luck.

That's why I am rowing, no motor.

ZaQ,
If you row down just 'a bit', like, only the first stretch you are Ok. Go down the first riffle and you'll have a pretty miserable day of rowing and dragging, getting back. I'd rather fish than sweat. I suggest going over to tidewater Trask country. No shoots, light current, minimum sweatage! Have fun !
