I havn`t done much smallmouth fishing, mostly largemouth and would like to fish around the Scottsberg area as I live here on the coast and want to launch my boat at the Scottsberg ramp towards Reedsport. Is that a good area? It looks like from the bridge that there are some rocks to lookout for durring low tide.

Too close to the Salt for Smallies. Might be a few around, but head up closer to sawyer rapids and above to Elkton. That is a good area.

You would be suprised at the places I have pulled out LMB. I took rock fish and red fish off the same points I have taken LMB. Heres a few pics:

Per, that last pick has you deep in thought.
Is he talking to ya? If so, what did he say??
Good pics btw, too bad the speckled trout wasn't a little bigger.
Sorry for the Hijack guys. But yea, I think LM can't tolerate more salt that we think.

Just for the record I was joking about the salt. I have caught smallmouth as far as Mill Creek on the Main Umpqua
and know they are as far west as Dean Creek.

I was not serious about the salt either. My dad and I have caught many smallies when I got bored Salmon Fishing down around Scottsburg. I thougt it was abvious to a couple of guys who live in the area.
