Thinking of putting in at rogers landing in Newberg and trying for some smallmouth. I have never fished these waters for smallmouth, any suggestions? Thanks a lot, Chris :help:

Lots of good flats and current seams up and down from the launch. Mouth of Yamhill is a good bet as well. Fish will move on and off flats throughout the day, especially as the water warms. Keep an eye on your graph and read the water for current irregularities.

If you are not familiar with smallies, you can take the same approach as you do with green bass, and in fact may catch some of those too in the area. If cranks/spinners/etc don't work, try splittshotting plastics of varying styles in natural colors--can't go wrong around here with pumpkinseed or watermellon.

Good luck!

Uhh basically everywhere in there is a hot spot.. the current holds some great smallies, look for points of ambush

If you aren't running a jet, BE CAREFUL. With the water up like it is, you'll be OK, but there are some shallow bars, especially as you get up toward the Yamhill. Good luck!
