Okay, no, not a giant Largemouth. Just a Giant Goldfish! Had me laughing after bringing it in. The original post is on the Community page, however, I figure it was fitting for the Bass and Panfish forum, due to the recent posts I've seen on carp.

Caught this thing a week ago down on a slough on the Willamette with a doughball. At the time, the bass weren't really hitting much, so I figured I'd pass the time at least FIGHTING something big!

Well, bottom line, this picture was taken with humor in mind. Hell, why not pose like you're holding a trophy, even though all you have is.....

...........DINNER!!!!!! :food: :food: :food: :food:

.....  TOTALLY Kidding!

I actually think they are kinda cool. If I had unlimited time, I would actually consider making a good replica of a carp.

Used to trotline them in Mississippi in the 70s. They are actually rather decent eating, but certainly not from the Willy!

I remember fishing with my dad when I was a little kid and bringing home a cooler full of carp. My mom fried 'em up, eggs and all, and we feasted. About a week later she heard you weren't supposed to eat the things so we never did it again. Seems like it was something about mud veins that turned her off.

Thanks for jogging my memory, that's a great pic! Funny post, too.

since taking up carp fishing (with a fly rod) i have quit fishing for steelhead, salmon, trout, etc. they are a GREAT fly rod species. the sight fishing aspect and challenge of catching a big, spooky carp on the fly is really tough to beat in my book! carp are way underated as a gamefish...

i appreciate you guys discussing carp from time to time...i'm always looking to learn more about them!

nice fish!

Years ago my father talked about eating carp back in Wisconsin . He wouldn't eat them while he lived here . He said that the waters were cleaner there.

gotta love carp...that is a nice fish...

carp are pretty much all i fish for anymore. on a fly rod they can tear you up, especially the big ones!
