View Full Version : Deschutes/Columbia floats??

While driving down HWY 84 this weekend I see dozens of white styrofoam floats in the Columbia about a mile below the Deschutes on the Oregon side. They are about 12 to 16 inch cubes +/-. They were scattered around kind of like crab floats in the bay. It did not look like they were for a gill net string. I saw several more a few miles below the original bunch I saw just below the Deschutes. Does anybody know what these are??

eggs, you were right about them being used for gill nets. the tribal fishers use them for the ends of the nets to hold the anchor lines.
