Well, I was hoping to hit Lava/Little Lava/Hosmer area of the Cascade lakes highway in the early summer (first couple weekends of June, if possible). I was just looking for information on places to stay in the close vicinity. I've fished these lakes quite a bit, and usually do the camping routine. This trip, I will have my 2-1/2 year old and 15 month old that would be making the trip with me, so sleeping outside at 6000 feet elevation does not interest me all that much (especially with nap times, cold nights, eating outside, etc).

I have information on cabins to rent at a lot of the nearby resorts (there a little out of my preferred price range), and was mostly curious as to the status of Elk lake lodge - it seems to be out of business!?!

Anyways, are there any hotels (on the cheap side) on that side of town in Bend, or in Sunriver? Obviously, if money was no object, there are all kinds of homes to rent in Sunriver, and fancy resorts in Bend right at the beginning of the cascade lakes highway, but I was looking for a chain type hotel to put down roots at.

The goal of this trip will be to get my 2-1/2 year old into a good looking fish (as well as get me into some fish as well when they are napping and grandma and mom are watching them), we will probably troll around some Seal buggers on her Disney princess fishing pole in L. Lava, or big Lava, and take a boat ride in Hosmer to see some fish. Thanks for any help.

Stayed at the Bend River House last summer and fished Hosmer, the Deschutes above Crane Prairie and Elk Lake. The nice part about staying at the River House is that you can fish the Deschutes from the hotel, it runs right through the center of the complex. My son picked up a couple nice 12" rainbows at about 8:00 pm, and was in the pool swimming by 9:00.

Inn at the Seventh Mountain looks like they have rooms that start at around $100 and if you can rent directly from an owner in Sunriver and bypass the rental agency, you can get a house for around $125.

I have a home in Sunriver that we rent out on occasion to people we trust. Like I-Fishers. Rent will be a little higher than a motel, but very private home, deer in back yard, hot tub. PM me for more details.
