Because of this, make sure you inspect the knot often as if the line wraps around where it is tied, (And it will about every other cast), it will pinch your line and may break off with a big fish.
That`s why most of the better quality spinnerbaits have the open eye. I won`t throw a twisted eyed spinnerbait for any reason!

Spinnerbaits aren't my main thing by any stretch, but I've used both types, and don't recall any problem with the line being pinched or the line being wrapped up in the eye. I do tend to buy the "R bend" type more, but I think the main reason for that design is that the twisted wire type may tend to break from metal fatigue (tho I've never had that happen, either).
I mostly throw them at night or if it's quite windy. They're good baits in the right circurmstance, and enjoyable to fish. Have fun. C&R, Steve

yeah i just used mine today and it felt good...no issues were relevant. i found its very sensitive and you can feel any lil trigger. however i didnt get any strong bites while using it. so obviously nothing was landed or hooked. ill give it a shot tomorrow towards dusk rather then mid day see if that tip helps... thank you for the advice.
