Found this site initially looking for salmon/steelhead advice and reports, but have since gotten the urge to return to my small-town roots and bust out my pistol-grip casting rod, spinning rod, and crusty old lures in hopes of getting some bass.
Just curious where to find some good angling spots from the bank? I've searched around quite a bit here and have a few spots in mind, but not sure if many of the suggestions apply to boaters only?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks much!

There are many parks on the willamette that all offer great fishing for smallmouth bass. Look for drop-offs, ledges, or rip-rap.

Absolutely! Fish'nMagician is a very good fella to ping for such info. I recall he does a lot of fishing on the Marcum Blvd (west) side of the lower Willey.
You don't have a location indicated in your profile, update it and we can give you more hints that are close to your location.
BTW, WELCOME!!!!!!
We'll expect to see an intro post and the traditional big fish story. Just our little way of gett'n to know ya.

Thanks Hunt'n'Fish.
Went out today to a few places...did a bunch of scouting, walking, and "trying out of lures." Happy to say I caught 2, had a couple more on, and have a few good places in mind to fish later in the week. My First Smallmouth! What I've heard is true, they fight hard.
I grew up fishin for bass, and when I moved here years ago I got introduced to salmon and steelhead and never went back. Partly cause I loved this new style (15lb salmon in fast, shallow water? FUHGEDABOUDIT...) but also because I didn't think there were too many opportunties without a boat. Now that I know differently, I'm gonna be goin for these suckers all summer. So close to home and a nod to the Old School days as well.
Can't wait to eventually get one on topwater with my crusty old hoppers and spooks, that was always my fave!
Once I get a decent one, will def post a pic here. Have already learned a lot and only been lookin for like a week.

On the east side, the area from the Steel Bridge to OMSI has many good spots. You can park by any of the the bridges and access the Esplanade. Also, up by Johnson Creek/the Milwaukie boat ramp, and Clackamette Park.
